About Addiction Worker Diploma Program

Make a meaningful difference as an Addiction Worker. This diploma offers in-depth learning, hands-on training, professional certifications, and small classes. Approved by the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation, it provides a pathway to recognized standards. A 12-week internship gives real-world experience to support individuals

This 50-week diploma program prepares you with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional certifications to begin a rewarding career as an Addiction Worker. You will learn client-centered counselling techniques, group and individual support strategies, case management, relapse prevention planning, and trauma-informed care. Courses include Theories of Addiction, Pharmacology of Addictions, Lifespan Psychology, Family Dynamics, Priority Populations, Case Management, Secondary Traumatic Stress, and Counselling and Trauma-Informed Care, along with essential studies in digital literacy, student success strategies, and career planning.

The program concludes with a 12-week, 300-hour internship that provides valuable hands-on experience in real-world recovery centers, outpatient clinics, and community-based organizations.

The Addiction Worker program is delivered online through live, instructor-led sessions that combine the flexibility of virtual learning with real-time interaction and support from experienced instructors. Students also have access to campus services at multiple triOS locations, including Toronto, London, Mississauga, Brampton, Kitchener, Hamilton, Ottawa, and Windsor.

Career Opportunities

As an Addiction Worker graduate, you may qualify for positions such as: Addiction Worker, Outreach Worker, Recovery Support Worker in community or residential programs, Case Manager Assistant or Community Support Worker (addictions focus)
